ORIGINAL ART:BISON, CHAUVET CAVES, FRANCE – 36,000 B.C.E.
Bison are one of the most frequently seen images in the cave art of Central Europe, even more so in Spain than in France. The bison is frequently paired with the horse in the same cave or even overlapping, leading to the theory that they may stand for the male/female, or yin/yang universal force of rebirth and renewal.
